Beware: $30 is enough to screen how fake you are!
When I saw that one of the Arab actresses ( N.T ) had a significant number of followers, which equated to 6.5 million on Instagram, I was curious to know how she attracted so many followers. The figure may seem relatively small compared to celebrities around the world; however, for the Arab world, 6.5 million followers on social media is considered a significant number. Although the actress is somewhat popular in the Arab world, she is not popular enough to have this number of followers relative to her counterparts in the field. Just by browsing her Instagram profile, I realized that her official page includes photographs, quotes, and videos of her appearance at events or festivals. Nothing outstanding, in my opinion. I sought Google to figure out this dilemma. I soon came across sites known as Likes Detector. These sites provide detailed reports by analyzing the data of any social media profile. The analytic report includes the following sections:
· Audience Demography
This type of analysis can screen for the accuracy or falsity of followers. It entails covering country, city, language spoken, age, and gender. It is farfetched that an Arab star has a million or more followers from China or India. The presence of many followers from countries who do not speak Arabic and are not related to the actor can be a sign of the falsity of the followers. Click Farms are an option to buy followers on social media in exchange for money. There does not exist a unified amount to purchase followers or Likes; rather, these sites compete to provide more attractive prices. On average, the cost of 1000 followers can range from $5 to $19. To purchase one million followers, the prices range between $1500 to $2999.
· Followers and their engagement
Screening followers involves checking the nature of their interaction on Instagram pages or any other social media platform. Such analysis looks into followers’ growth from the time which they joined that page. If a significant number of followers joined a page within a short period, without a particular reason, this could suggest some form of manipulation.
· Audience Interests
These sites can analyze how followers interact on the page to see what attracts more followers.
· Account activity
These sites provide charts detailing the number of likes, the interaction between followers, and the publications on a page. This is called engagement.
Up to this point in time, establishing Click Farms or purchasing followers and likes are not illegal. Millions of followers might boost the owner’s self-confidence, but this number amounts to nothing for any advertiser if they were fakes. These fictional likes have no value in the business world. If I owned a company that wanted to promote a product using this actress, I would pay $30 to get a detailed analysis of her page to know if this celebrity is trendy and has a genuine fan base.
